Roe Hailey
A couple of months ago, my cousin Carolyn reached out while on a “visit as many national parks as we can” adventure. One of their stops was Mt. Rainier, and since it had been a while since we’d seen each other, she asked if they could swing by the farm. Of course, we said yes!
As soon as they arrived, we headed straight to the flower field. That’s where her daughter, Hailey, instantly connected with one particular bloom. She was completely drawn to it. I harvested a single flower for her, and she cradled it in her hands like it was the most special thing in the world. She took it inside, snapped a bunch of photos, and then asked for a vase and some water so she could take it with her.
That dahlia traveled all the way from Washington to Southern California, tagging along on the rest of their national park journey. Hailey cared for it lovingly the entire time until her mom gently told her it was finally time to say goodbye.
So when it came time to name this dahlia, Sean and I didn’t even have to think twice. It was obvious.
Introducing: Roe Hailey
Roe Hailey is more than just a pretty face. She’s already won a blue ribbon in the 2025 season (entered as a seedling) and scored a solid 6 on the ADS 1–10 bench earning her a Seedling of Merit ribbon making her not just a garden beauty, but a strong contender on the show bench as well.
We hope you fall in love with Roe Hailey just like Hailey did and maybe one day, you’ll add her to your own garden collection.
